Classification by Age
- Junior – will not turn 19 in the calendar year OR was enrolled in high school in the calendar year
- Junior 16 – will not turn 17 in the calendar year. Also known as Junior B
- Master – 21 or older as of December 31. Masters are further divided into age groups
Classification by Skill
- Novice – has never rowed a rowing race prior to January 1. This is a Schuylkill Navy classification, not a USRowing classification
- Intermediate – not a senior or elite
- Senior – has won an intermediate or senior event at Nationals or Canadian Henley
- Elite – member of US national team
